How to make treatments fun for a 3 year old?
Jul 18, 2012 at 12:18 PM
We read, sing, listen to music, dance (when we can, to an extent) What else can we do to make treatments more entertaining? We sometimes relax to a movie, when I'm feeling lazy or she doesn't want to do anything else.. We do our letters and numbers, and we don't have very many toys because we have been staying at my mothers for a short period.. and my husband is giving me problems about letting me get my stuff... I am trying to find some ideas to make treatments more fun... It's hard to find childrens songs that she likes.. We usually end up listening to oldies! :)

If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful! Thank you!!

I do it the easy way: my almost 3 years old does taps-taps two times a day (morning and night) and during that time, he gets to chose a movie that he likes ;-) He's also a little piggy pig so if he complains, I promise him milk and a treat afterwards and it usually does the trick. I DO hope that it stays that way for a few years because our days are so hectic...I appreciate the lazy time and my son too!

Whatever you do, make sure she breathes in all the medications during her treatments! It's easy to become distracted and not focus on taking it all in. I think those are great ideas! Treatments can be a little boring, but help her understand how important they are for her. Also, if any of the medications taste nasty that she has to breathe in, as a kid I loved to stick a dum dum sucker or lollipop inside the mouthpiece to focus on that instead of the other taste. :)
